Mazda Demio

The Mazda Demio car is also known as the Mazda 2. The Mazda Demio was first and is still made in

Japan by Mazda. It is a five-door hatchback car that has gained popularity across the world. The first

generation of Mazda Demio was made in the year 1996 to the year 2002 and the production has

 continued to present years.

The Demio or Mazda 2 has been a reliable and dependable car. The first generation debuted in 1996

and was built on the Mazda D platform (DW platform).

The earlier version of the Mazda Demio had only one choice of an engine which was the 1.3L B3 ME

which is an inline 4 that produced 84HP at 6000rpm and had a fuel consumption of 17.5Km/L. It had a

4- Speed automatic transmission and 5-Speed manual transmission. This engine ran well on the Mazda

2 and it did pleasantly well.

Later on, Mazda produced the second generation of the Mazda 2. The 2nd generation of Demio came

with a new engine that was a 1.3L Z-VE inline 4 engine that produced 90HP at 6000rpm. The car had a

lower fuel consumption than the other model it proceeded. It came with a fuel consumption of 18.9

Km/L. This engine was later replaced by the ZY-VE engine.

The ZY-VE engine came with an inline 4 engine that had 111HP. The version consumed lesser fuel per

Kilometer. The consumer was reduced to 14Km/L. Engines of this Demio were mated and there was the

automatic and manual engine. The automatic engine came with a gear transmission of 4-Speed. The

manual version came with 5-Speed gear transmission.

The third generation of the Mazda 2 was manufactured in the year 2007. This model ran until 2014.

This generation of Demio was built on a new different Mazda D platform. This was the DE platform

that used the 1.3L ZJ-VE and 1.5L ZY-VE engines. These engines served well until and had very less

problems. Mazda later introduced the 1.5L turbo diesel S5 Skyactive-D engines that produced 103HP

at 6000rpm. It had a fuel consumption of 12Km/L.

Mazda then innovated a new engine that was used in the fourth generation of the Mazda 2. It was

produced from the year 2014 to the present. This car was built and based on the Mazda CX-5 platform.

Mazda also added a new feature of the i-STOP technology that enables the car to turn off when the car

is stationary. The technology of i-ELOOP was introduced in 2014. The Intelligent Energy Loop ( i-

ELOOP) aids the car to use the brake regeneration system charges the capacitor for all the car

electronics, which include the climate control and audio system. Surplus energy is used to charge the

starter battery.

This latest model as of now is powered by a 1.5L Skyactive-GF- P5 Petrol. The engine produces 108HP

at 6000rpm. There is another 1.5L S.A Hybrid F-P5+ engine. It is mated to be either automatic or

manual transmission. The manual transmission has a 5-Speed gear transmission while the 6-Speed

 gear is an automatic version.

Mazda Demio has continued to do well in the market and it has been scoped various accolades since it

commencement. The first generation of Demio won the Automotive Researchers and Journalists

conference car of the year award in Japan. In 2008 the third generation of Demio won the award of

World car of the year. The fourth generation of Demio has also won the Japanese car of the year award

once more.

The problems that the Mazda Demio has been reported having include a weak rear beam and notorious

engine failure. The rattling exhaust also is a problem although it is not a major and common problem.

You may also note a squealing from the engine. The mechanical problems above can

be fixed by your preferred automotive engineer or mechanical expert. In case of engine failure the

Demio engine is not expensive to replace.
